Comps. incl. cantatas Emmaus (1901, some of it scored by Elgar) and The Holy Innocents (1904), and services and anthems, but his best mus. is in his secular comps. such as 3 Elizabethan Pastorals for v. and orch. (1906), and Jillian of Berry, song‐cycle (1921). Wrote Marche héroïque for org., 1914. Knighted 1926.
