A teacher in the Neo-Vedānta tradition and a pupil of Swami Śivānanda. Chinmayānanda was instrumental in the founding of the Hindu nationalist Viśva Hindū Pariṣad in 1964. He worked outside India under the auspices of the international Chinmaya Mission, which was designed specifically to further his agenda, and is now an organization devoted to spreading his teachings. His death prevented him from being the official president of the Hindu representatives at the Centennial Conference of the Parliament of World Religions in Chicago in 1993.
