Quick Reference

An exercise used to evaluate and train concentration. Typically, a grid consisting of 10 rows and 10 columns is drawn up into cells. Each cell has a two-digit number (00–99) randomly assigned to it. The athlete is required to mark in ascending numerical sequence as many numbers as possible in a given time (usually 1 min). Scores greater than 30 indicate good concentration skills. Once mastered, the exercise can be made more difficult by introducing distractions (e.g. background noises, such as shouts from an audience).
