[Latin: ‘with the Sun’]
In the same direction as the Sun, i.e. clockwise in the northern hemisphere, anticlockwise in the southern. This is a useful term for describing the curvature of the path of a tidal current (for example), particularly when the forces involved give rise to opposite curvature in the two hemispheres (as in the Coriolis effect.)
