The satellite of asteroid Ida, discovered by the Galileo probe in 1993, the first confirmed satellite of an asteroid. Dactyl has dimensions of 1.6 × 1.4 × 1.2 km and an estimated density of 2.2–3.0 gm/cm3. It was about 100 km from Ida's centre when imaged.
