Ballet in one act with choreography by Helpmann, music by Arnold, and design by A. Boyd. Premiered 26 Mar. 1963 by the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden, London, with Nerina, Blair, Mason, and Rencher. It tells the myth of Electra in colourfully dramatic dance imagery. Other versions of the story include Charrat's Electre (mus. Pousseur, Brussels, 1960) and Taubert's Electra—Study about Hysteria (mus. Stockhausen, Brunswick, 1972).
