Shadowy early king of the Dál nAraide in Ulster who, with three confederates, murdered King Fiachu and usurped the throne of Tara. God punished this wickedness by sending a famine to Ireland. Éllim reigned for twenty years until Fiachu's son, Tuathal Techtmar, avenged the killing and regained his heritage. Tuathal Techtmar would become one of the greatest of pre-Patrician Irish rulers.
