Australian dancer. She studied with Elizabeth Scully and at Sadler's Wells School, joining Sadler's Wells Theatre Ballet in 1947, becoming principal dancer and creating the title role in Cranko's Pineapple Poll (1951). Between 1954 and 1957 she was ballerina with Sadler's Wells Ballet (later Royal Ballet) and created a role in Ashton's Birthday Offering (1956). She also danced with the Borovansky Ballet (1956–8) and then danced for periods with the Australian Ballet (1964–6 and 1969). She was married to the conductor John Lanchbery, and wrote In My Shoes (London, 1967).
