Usually applied as an adjective to distinguish the limited, single fire (ekāgni) ritualism of the domestic sacrificer from the expanded and extended ritualism of the śrauta sacrificer, but applied more generally to the domestic rules, rituals, and rites of passage laid out in the Gṛhyasūtras.
