A histopathological term to describe the appearance of liver cells infected with hepatitis B in which the hepatitis B surface antigen appears as fine granules either diffusely spread throughout the cytoplasm or concentrated in the cytoplasm peripherally to the sinusoid space. It is also used to describe the appearance of multinucleated giant cells in multicentric reticulohistiocytosis and cells of glassy cell carcinoma of the endometrium.
