(b Berlin, 1930; d Redding, Conn., 2002). Amer. harpsichordist and critic, son of Alexander Kipnis. Début NY 1959 (hpd.), Indianapolis 1981 (as fortepianist). Eur. tour 1967. Assoc. prof. of fine arts, Fairfield Univ., Conn., 1971–5, artist-in-residence 1975–7. Has taught at summer courses in Tanglewood and Indianapolis. Works written for him by Rochberg, Rorem, Kolb, R. R. Bennett, and McCabe.
