(1819–92), brother of H. W. Longfellow, was a prominent Unitarian clergyman, and was active in the Transcendentalist movement. His writings include several books of hymns, a biography of his brother (2 vols., 1886), and Thalatta: A Book for the Seaside (1853), in collaboration with T.W. Higginson.
