A method used by NASA to land the Apollo astronaunts on the Moon by separating their lunar module (LM) from the command module (CM) in orbit around the Moon, and then returning the LM to rendezvous with the CM. LOR was chosen instead of the other options of Earth-orbit rendezvous mode (EOR) and the direct ascent mode.
