A phosphoprotein (387 aa) associated with brain synaptic plasma membranes. It is abundant in several endocrine tissues and is concentrated at sites of plasma membrane activity, such as filopodia and microspikes, and induces cell expansion and process formation. It is post-translationally modified by prenylation and palmitoylation and the lipid anchor is necessary for function. See palmdelphin.
