Quick Reference

The technique of making faint detail on a photographic emulsion more easily visible by copying it on to a high-contrast emulsion. The copy is made by contact printing the original using diffuse illumination which preferentially copies the outermost, most sensitive layer of the original emulsion. In this way, otherwise invisible features can be seen on the copy.
