The enzyme (EC 1.14.11.2, 534 aa) that hydroxylates proline to hydroxyproline in procollagen. It is a heterotetramer of two α2 chains and two β chains; the active site has a ferrous ion, and a reducing agent such as ascorbate is necessary as a cofactor.
