A type of strength-training in which loads are increased successively in each set, while the number of repetitions in a set is reduced. Assuming a 2-RM (see repetition maximum) of 45 kg, a typical session might consist of seven repetitions at 20 kg; six repetitions at 25 kg; five repetitions at 35 kg; three repetitions at 40 kg; and two repetitions at 45 kg.
