A technique for locating the points of effective contact between a nucleic acid chain and a cognate polypeptide chain; the complex (e.g., tRNA and its cognate aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase) is treated with a group of RNases that digest all of the RNA except those regions in contact with the synthetase.
