School Curriculum and Assessment Authority

Formed as result of the Education Act 1993 to take over the responsibilities of both the National Curriculum Council (NCC) and the School Examinations and Assessment Council (SEAC), thus drawing together curriculum and assessment functions in one body. It was merged with the National Council for Vocational Qualifications in 1997 to form the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, this time signalling a convergence between general or academic education and vocational education and training.
