Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

An experimental design used when comparisons of different types of treatments can be made at different scales. For example, after ploughing, different fields (the whole plots) might be treated with different fertilizers. Subsequently, within each field, sub-plots might be planted with different varieties of vegetable. The analysis of the variability of the varieties uses within-field sub-plot variation, and the analysis for the fertilizers uses between-fields whole-plot variation.
