Quick Reference

A form of reinforcement in closed-loop theories of motor learning, which enables an individual to be able to report to himself or herself the errors made in the execution of a skill. It is suggested that the subject acquires a reference of correctness (called the perceptual trace). When a movement is completed, the subject can compare the feedback received against the perceptual trace; the deviation represents the error that the subject could report to themselves or an experimenter as subjective reinforcement.
