Quick Reference

A family of peripheral membrane proteins involved in the dystrophin-associated protein complex together with dystrophin, dystrobrevin, and diacylglycerol kinase (DGK-ζ) in muscle and nerve. There are three different but highly conserved syntrophin isoforms (~500 aa), differentially expressed. The DGK-ζ, syntrophin, and Rac1 complex controls polarized outgrowth in neuronal cells.
