An international organisation founded in 1989 by the Thai activist Sulak Sivaraksa for the promotion of world peace, the protection of the environment, and an end to economic exploitation, particularly in the developing world. The organization has an informal structure and aims to foster contacts and facilitate cooperation among interested parties. The emphasis is on a ‘back to basics’ approach which emphasizes the early Buddhist teachings on right livelihood as the best way to resolve the problems of the modern world.
