A solution of a set of equations is an element, belonging to some appropriate universal set, specified or understood, that satisfies the equations. For a set of equations in n unknowns, a solution may be considered to be an n-tuple (x1, x2,…, xn), or a column matrix

such that x1, x2,…, xn satisfy the equations. See also inequality.
