## Quick Reference

A solution of a set of equations is an element, belonging to some appropriate universal set, specified or understood, that satisfies the equations. For a set of equations in *n* unknowns, a solution may be considered to be an *n*-tuple (*x*_{1}, *x*_{2},…, *x*_{n}), or a column matrix

such that *x*_{1}, *x*_{2},…, *x*_{n} satisfy the equations. See also inequality.
