1. A conserved family of ‘muscle ankyrin repeat proteins’ that includes cardiac ankyrin repeat protein (CARP) and its two close homologues ankrd2 (Arpp) and DARP. All three genes are induced by stress/strain injury signals and can associate with the elastic region of titin/connectin.
2. Microtubule repetitive proteins MARP-1 and MARP-2 isolated from membrane skeleton of Trypanosoma brucei. They are large (~320 kDa) with many tandem 38-residue repeats, but have not appeared in recent literature.
