A congenital disorder characterized by large size and weight at birth, accelerated growth in infancy and childhood, acromegalic features, and neurological disorder usually accompanied by moderate mental retardation. Also called Sotos syndrome, after the US paediatrician Juan Fernandez Sotos (born 1927) who, with four colleagues, first described it in 1964.
