Ballet in one act with libretto and choreography by Ashton, music by Schubert, and design by Graham Sutherland. Premiered 27 Jan. 1941 by Sadler's Wells Ballet at New Theatre, London, with Helpmann and Fonteyn. Set to Schubert's Wanderer Fantasie, it portrays a man recalling significant moments from his life. Balanchine used the same music (arr. Liszt) for his ballet Errante (Paris, 1933).
