comfort zone

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A psychological space or mental zone in which the competitor or performer feels in control of the performance environment and the nature and outcome of the performance dynamic and/or competitive encounter. This is not to say that the comfort zone is a sphere of easy or effortless performance; the player may be stretched competitively, but confident—as in key points in tennis matches, for instance—that opportunities will arise for making the winning move, and will be taken.
