Quick Reference

A collection of individuals interacting with one another so that each person influences and is influenced by each other person to some degree. Group members are distinguished from a mere aggregate of individuals by having a shared purpose, by being aware of each other, and by interacting and communicating with each other. A team can be regarded as a special type of group, which has a well-defined structure, organization, and communication patterns. Team assignments are usually designated before an activity, whereas those of other types of groups are often assumed in the course of group interaction.
