Performance devised by Cunningham in which extracts from various works (old and new) are performed as a continuous whole and in an order determined by chance. They were originally conceived as a way of allowing Cunningham's company to perform in non-theatrical spaces, hence the first was called Museum Event 1 (performed in Vienna, 1964) and a later series in 1968 were called Gymnasium Events. Cunningham also subsequently staged them in conventional theatres, with the intention of opening up fresh views of his choreography.
