1 A position at which a planet temporarily does not move in right ascension on the celestial sphere. Planets exterior to the orbit of the Earth reach a stationary point when changing from direct motion to retrograde motion and back again.

2 A point in space at which a body can remain in equilibrium with other bodies, maintaining a constant distance from them, for example a Lagrangian point.
