This chapter presents a comprehensive overview of the nature, psychological conceptualization, assessment, and treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and related conditions. First, we describe the symptoms of OCD and the proposal that numerous other disorders overlap with this condition. We critically review this proposal, and conclude that the number of overlapping conditions is somewhat smaller than some authors have suggested. From there, we turn to a review of the empirically supported psychological models of OCD and these related conditions. A discussion of the assessment and treatment of these disorders then follows.
