Cultural Conflicts, Religion, and Urban Politics

Show Summary Details

This article reviews the literature on developments concerning cultural conflict, religion, urban politics, and morality issues. It analyses the American culture wars at the urban scale as well as other forms of cultural conflict in advanced capitalist cities around the world, and outlines some possible future issues that urban political scholarship might take in its continued interest in cultural conflict. These include the more conventionally social-scientific approach reflecting Elaine Sharp's orientation, and the more postmodern approach indicative of Michael Brown's standpoint in political and cultural geography.
