 Immigration and Citizenship

Show Summary Details

This article presents an overview of immigration, integration, and citizenship in Britain. It starts by offering a brief history of immigration and anti-discrimination legislation in the United Kingdom and by addressing the turn from multiculturalism in the early 2000s and economic immigration. It also explores scholarly interpretations of UK immigration policy as they have evolved over the post-war period. Furthermore, it gives an institutional explanation of British immigration policy's trajectory. An institutional account avoids the over-determination of Marxist-functionalist or critical-race interpretations.
