This article takes a closer look at assize sermons, which is a preaching sub-genre that is mostly concerned with the connections between justice administration and religious tenets. It also presents three brief case studies of assize sermons, which were delivered and published after the Act of Uniformity. These case studies try to show how different churchmen adapted the established conventions of the assize sermon to gain different effects and purposes.
