This chapter, which attempts to interpret manuscript evidence from Shelley's draft notebooks, focusing on two works – ‘The Two Spirits’ and Prometheus Unbound – first examines his drafting of the former and traces its relationship to adjacent lyric passages of Act I of the latter. Second, it looks at a lyric duet that develops through several draft notebooks from isolated song into the cosmic dance of a new fourth act for Prometheus.
