This article examines some instances of Methodist engagement with feminist theologies. It proceeds through snapshot examples rather than attempting to summarise and systematise more broadly, since this is the way to tackle such a broad subject within the limits of a single article. But this way of proceeding also echoes the emphasis on particularity among feminist theologies. The article discusses the work of some Methodist scholars who have contributed to thinking and action with and on behalf of women in various situations of oppression around the world. It also presents examples of how particular Methodist churches have debated, fought against, or engaged with feminist ideas.
