The influence of mothers, motherhood, and the concept of Mother of God and Mother God on female faith development are examined in light of religion, spirituality, creativity, and intuition. It is held that it is necessary for the female child to learn of egalitarian relationships in creation so that she may assume her balanced and equal place in the world as a creation of nature and a Higher Power. These lessons she most often learns at the knee of a loving, protective, wise, and caring mother. The importance for girls and women to consider gender issues along with development of faith, religion, spirituality, and theology cannot be overemphasized.
