Noble, William Henry (1834–1892), army officer, eldest son of Robert Noble, rector of Athboy, co. Meath, and grandson of Dr William Newcome, archbishop of Armagh, was born at Laniskea, co. Fermanagh, on 14 October 1834. He studied at Trinity College, Dublin, where in 1856 he graduated BA with honours in experimental science (MA 1859).
