Rickman, John (1771–1840), statistician and civil servant, was born on 22 August 1771, the only son of Thomas Rickman, vicar of Newburn, Northumberland. He was educated at Guildford grammar school (1781–5), matriculated from Magdalen Hall, Oxford, in 1788, migrated to Lincoln College, and graduated BA in 1792. ...
