Forbes, (Joan) Rosita (1890–1967), traveller and writer, was born on 16 January 1890 at Riseholme Hall, near Lincoln, the eldest of the six children of Herbert James Torr (1864–1935), landowner, and his wife, Rosita, daughter of Duncan Graham, of Lydiate, Willaston, Cheshire.
