Lynda Measor raises two critical issues relating to Wacquant: firstly questions about the specific experiences of women as victims of neoliberalism and the need for a distinct gender perspective and the relative lack of focus on resistance on the part of the precariat, especially its female members. She argues that although sympathetic to the theme, Wacquant has actually little to say concerning the view from below and resistance as the ‘second life’ of the precariat, something she attempts to give voice to by reference to an on-going study of teenage mothers.
