This chapter examines the evidence base for the policy of a human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme for the prevention of cervical cancer. It addresses the ethical dilemmas associated with mass HPV immunisation within the current context of cervical cancer prevention programmes. It suggests that the way in which information about HPV vaccination is communicated to the public may have serious consequences for the screening programme and this could be counterproductive.
