This chapter starts from the basic normative question of how the division of labour between men and women should evolve in the (near) future, given actual evolution in past decades. The need for a new normative vision or model for the future division of labour, as a guide for scientific researchers and policy makers, is emphasized. This chapter discusses democracy as the overall normative concept for society, from the micro to the macro level. It also presents discussions on the basic values of democracy and the democratic division of labour between men and women, within families and organizations. The chapter also looks at societal models of the division of time of individuals, families and organizations, developed in the form of quantitative distributions of different types of individuals, families and organisations within society.
