This chapter evaluates some of the consequences for the UK of the greatly increased alternative religious pathways for British people, especially as they age. Although numbers are relatively small, it explains that the impact of these new faiths can be expected to increase. It also considers the attitudes to ageing within some of the world's great faiths, with special attention given to Islam. It reports studies on older Muslims that show the need for health and social service personnel, in particular, to be better aware of the religious needs and perceptions of different faith groups.
