Chapter Three provides an overview of the financial practices of migrant men and women drawn from Brazilian, Bulgarian, Polish, Somali and Turkish communities in London. Focusing on formally provided financial services - banking, savings and credit - the chapter highlights the importance of these services for migrant men and women, and the varying levels and nature of exclusion and inclusion migrants experience in relation to each of these. The chapter identifies the key factors which shape migrants' access including labour market position, immigration status, nationality, ethnicity and gender. It draws extensively upon interviews conducted with migrant men and women.
