This chapter presents a case study concerning the author's social work experience with James, a seventeen-year-old young man of white British/Sicilian origin living in a long-term foster placement in North London, England. It explains that James is subject to Section 31 of the Children Act of 1989 and that the purpose of the intervention was to assist James in his transition to semi or independent living. It discusses the social work process, the author's session with James, and the author's evaluation of his intervention method which was based on attachment theory.
