It draws upon data gathered from case studies in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway, and introduces the Scandinavian model and the Scandinavian approach to gender and family modernisation. One section discusses the concept of ‘politicising parenthood’, which is used to refer to the complex processes that are used to shape the policies of parenthood.
