This chapter examines local practices for fighting unemployment on large housing estates in Jönköping, Sweden. The evaluations of the employment project in Jönköping show that micro-level policies can be successful both from a labour-market and an integration perspective. The chapter concludes that the phase of the business cycle is the most important factor for determining the success of this particular form of policy.
