This chapter highlights key lessons learned about the trio of imperatives. It provides an integrated overview of the implementation process in terms of three major foci following a brief resume of the methodology used to study implementation. The chapter notes that the first concerns transcending organizational and professional boundaries and describes the work undertaken by SSLPs to ‘create the right network’ – by establishing relationships among service providers at every level and ‘exploiting’ the network to underpin multidisciplinary working. It further notes that the second concerns the continuum of access and provides an overview of the ways in which SSLPs undertook the task of engaging the community. The chapter finally discusses the third subsection, which concerns a new approach to service delivery for children and parents, and describes the way in which the SSLP principles were applied to service planning.
